Opportunity Open Source: the importance of open source culture for Bosch

Abstract

Invented for life is the motto of us, we are masters in delivering innovations. Thereby is to be observed that variant diversity and complexity of our products are permanently increasing. And nowadays most of our products are connected, which means, they shall kept up-to-date with patches and new functions. Obviously Software plays an increasingly important role in our business. Hence questions about maintainability and scaling of SW capabilities are coming up. In this presentation, we will explain some challenges and elaborate opportunities of open source based collaboration.

Biography

Matthias Klauda received his PhD in Physics in 1993 from the University of Erlangen. In 1994 he joined Bosch, where he held responsibilities for Electronics Research & Predevelopment Department, North American Research & Technology Center, became CEO of ETAS GmbH (a tool solutions provider owned by Robert Bosch GmbH) in 2005, and Senior Vice President Corporate Automotive Systems Engineering in 2010. In 2015, he became head of development of Powertrain Control Units. In 2018, he additionally assumed overall responsibility for Bosch’s Powertrain Control Units business. Since 2021, he is Executive Vice President Engineering / R&D in the newly founded division Cross-Domain Computing Solutions Robert Bosch GmbH (XC).
